Maintenance Mechanic 1: Roofer

Perform preventive maintenance services to roof systems.This includes but is not limited to roof system inspections, cleaning of gutters, sweeping roofs,cleaning and repairing roof drains, patching damaged roofs, emergency repairs, and parapets etc.Install/repairall roof materials including cant strips, curbing, furring strips, insulation, built-up roofing(torch down), metal roof, mission tile, 3 tab and Hypalon, TPO, EPDM (or willing to be certified for EPDM) etc., flashing materials, drain basins, tile, spray coatings and metal roofing.Tear off existing roof material; may include flashing, asphalt, insulation, aggregate, and composition, drain basins, metal and tile.Be skilled at product application and in the use of specialized equipment used in this trade. Services, inspects and repairsroofing tools and equipment.May be requested to provide material and labor estimates for completion of a project (takeoff) Submit a detailed and accurate material list of roofing estimate to supervisor. Have a basic knowledge of carpentry, and sheet metal skills, as they would pertain to journey level roofing work. Report necessary repairs and recommend corrective actions. Set up and operate specialized equipment including man-lifts. Use hand and power tools generally used within this trade area. Assist and/or work with other trades and crafts as required. Must be mechanically proficient and have the ability to work independently. Possess strong interpersonal and communication skills that strengthen and provide a positive image, and a friendly and cooperative manner with students, staff, and faculty at all levels of the organization and in contacts with the public Ability to work from blueprints plans and sketches to estimate material and time required for job completion. Communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Effectively read and understand written information and instructions. Provide technical information as necessary.
