Providing daily direction and management to Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) staff who are responsible for conducting Fitness to Practise (FtP), investigations.Assisting the NMC in fulfilling its statutory duty to protect the public by ensuring that my investigations team carries out ethical and proportionate investigations that are in line with the NMC’s legislative framework. Responsible for ensuring my team meet key performance indicators and deliver excellent customer service, whilst identifying and leading on improvements where necessary.

Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire & Hertfordshire Police Services

• Conduct Local Investigations, Supervised and Managed Investigations from Death or Serious Injury referral incidents (DSI) involving police contact.• Provide advice and guidance to area supervisors in relation to Local investigations under the Police Reform Act 2002, The Police (Complaints & Misconduct) Regulations 2012 and The (Conduct) Regulations 2012.• Complete Referral submissions containing key points of evidence collection for the IPCC following Death or Serious injury contacts with police. Allowing IPCC to make determination around mode of investigation. • Act as a collaborated tri-force point of contact for the provision of information required for the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) in respect of Death and Serious Injury (DSI) Independent investigations.• Identify learning from investigations completed and ensure those lessons are correctly progressed within working practices for the department.

Responsible for: investigation and management of serious crime; managing and mentoring direct reports and investigation teams; preparing and conducting witness and suspect interviews; preparation and execution of search warrants; gathering and collating evidence in line with legislation for prosecutions; analysis and evaluation of information; developing investigative lines of enquiry; disseminating information to relevant decision makers; building and maintaining relationships with internal and external stakeholders; preparation of prosecution files in accordance with guidelines and best practice; media spokesperson; implementing and undertaking prevention based activities targeting high risk offenders and victims to reduce re-offending and victimisation.• Regularly deputising as Acting Detective Sergeant. This included: managing investigation squads, key projects, leading, mentoring and training teams and direct reports, addressing poor performance and ensuring processes were completed in line with legislation, guidelines and policy. • Secured multiple convictions by extracting information in a forensically robust, ethical, and transparent manner. I am one of only 30 Level 3 PEACE suspect investigative interviewers in New Zealand. • Awarded a Commanders Commendation for the sole management and prosecution of historic sexual offending investigation against adolescents. I built relationships with multiple stakeholders including victims, witnesses and support agencies, overcame the challenges of the time period which had elapsed and multiple locations where the offending occurred. • Reduced teenage sexual assault levels by establishing a prevention initiative to educate and heighten awareness of sexual assault and consent. This was in response to an increase of sexual assault reporting nationally and complimented New Zealand Police's national Prevention First operating strategy.

Responsible for: managing offenders in the community and custody; mitigating risk and protecting the public; ensuring compliance of offenders supervision requirements, Community and Suspended Sentence Orders; challenging offending behavior through intensive supervision sessions, working with external agencies to address issues which contribute to re-offending; improving and enhancing offenders skills to promote positive change; preparing sentence and risk management plans and pre-sentence reports; contributing towards multi-agency partnerships including MAPPA and MARAC conferences; preparing sentence reviews using OASys and regular use of Probation Delius and ICMS software.• Devised and implemented new information standards for multi-agency conferences resulting in relevant information being disseminated to appropriate stakeholders. I was commended for the consistent quality of my comprehensive MARAC domestic violence referrals.• Significantly reduced re-offending rates across the 100 community and custodial caseloads I managed. I achieved this by adopting a more joint approach with drug and alcohol agencies, supported and gained offenders’ trust and provided intensive supervision sessions to address underlying issues.• Increased public safety and built relationships by prompt information sharing, compiling reports of high risk offenders and by establishing regular meetings and timely contact with the police.• Increased team productivity through mentoring and devising time management techniques to assist colleagues in the handling of their caseloads; managed regular reporting centers to provide meaningful supervision to colleague’s caseloads where they were unable to see them.

This included relationship building with the City Council to adopt a joint approach, creating briefing materials for staff, effective policing of the inner city and educating the public. • Reduced fraudulent online auction website transactions and the sale of stolen goods by enhancing awareness and procedures through devising various communications to Police and Government Agencies.• Developed strong co-working relationships with key stakeholders to prevent and reduce crime. For example, to tackle the prolific national problem of Domestic Violence, I led a joint approach in the preparation of victim intervention and safety plans, home visits and working with victims to achieve a zero tolerance approach to offending. • Apprehended a large inner-city burglary syndicate by using police informants, covert surveillance, telecommunications analysis, public assistance and media. This culminated in the recovery of large quantities of stolen property.• Successfully mentored Police graduates in my role of Field Training Officer to make appreciations formulate plans when confronted with an issue and develop their skill base.
