Leading groups of travellers onto moving glaciers. The role required group management, understanding changing terrain, risk assessment, advanced on ice rescue techniques and rope work. Other tasks included temporary bridge building, assessing dangerous features (such as ice caves) and route selection.It was here that I gained the Wilderness First Responder Certificate. This is an advanced First Aid certificate for the wilderness terrain more than 2 hours away from medical aid.
