Depot level heavy maintenance on UH-60 and HH-60 helicopter. This position required complete rework of all electrical components on UH-60 helicopters which crashed or were shot down in Iraq and Afghanistan. Every wire bundle and cannon plug was broken open, inspected, tested and put back together. This job also included electrical system upgrades and new components added to earlier model variants of the UH-60, HH-60 helicopter. These systems were to include the IVhums (Integrated Vehicle Health Management Systems) and ALQ-144 infrared early warning missile detection system.

My AO experience in the Navy consisted of handling, inspecting, and storing airborne conventional explosives/weapons, pyrotechnics, and ammunition; maintaining, testing, assembling, loading, downloading, arming, and de-arming airborne conventional explosives/ weapons on the F-14 fighter aircraft and HH-60 helicopter. The Aim-9 sidewinder, Aim-7 Sparrow, Aim-54 Phoenix, AGM-88 hellfire missiles I worked. The MK-80 series bombs, configured variants to include: the JDAM (Joint Direct Attack Munition) satellite guided bomb, GBU variant laser guided bomb I also worked. I am an expert on the M-60A2 20 mm Vulcan cannon, and 7.62 mm GAU-17 Gatling gun systems. I worked, troubleshot, and installed all associated launchers, racks, support equipment and avionics packages used in the operation of these explosives/weapons systems. I was accountable for the work performed on these systems by inspecting work performed by junior personnel; consisting of preventative maintenance and general maintenance. I also became proficient in troubleshooting, testing with test equipment, tracking, inventory, and a software program known as NALCOMIS (Naval Aviation Logistics Command Automated Maintenance Information System). NALCOMIS is Responsible for the tracking of all maintenance related issues and worked performed on the Aircraft. It is what is used to sign off as "Good " all work conducted.I also was a Naval Law Enforcement Specialist or Master-at-Arms (MA) during my tenor in the US Navy. My duties in this position required me to be proficient in maintaining good order and discipline, law enforcement, and physical security. I had to enforce appropriate order and regulations, make apprehensions, conduct investigations/interrogations and prepare required records and reports.I also was a member of the Honor Guard. My duties here were to perform funeral ceremonies for recently departed US Navy Veterans and their families; the most fulfilling position in my Naval Career.
