This was accomplished through Atom Transfer Radical Polymerization (ATRP) in order to enhance the longevity of the nanoparticle catalyst. Polymerizing the iron core catalyst formed intricate intermolecular bonding that functioned as an internal adhesive, greatly expanding lifecycle counts of individual catalyst molecules.The function of the catalyst is to hydrolysis cellulose into glucose in the presence of water for industrial biofuel production.
