Coordinates professional academic advising services for IC students in the Academic Advising Center through collaboration with deans, faculty, and staff across campus. Strives to identify and implement the most suitable support services needed to foster academic success and growth for students at IC.

•Advise and counsel students on academic and curricular issues, as well as career and personal issues•Identify the education options appropriate for each student and assist with the analysis of each option, including potential outcomes and their implications•Serve as a referral source when needed, to offices on campus such as counseling services, student disability services, and academic enrichment services•Establish academic action plans for students to explore alternative majors and programs of study•Identify options for students to satisfy various degree requirements; as appropriate, support students pursuing petitions and inquiries regarding their programs of study•Monitor academic progress of students, including eligibility and satisfactory progress towards degree•Analyze instructor progress reports and communicate with necessary college personnel efficiently•Interpret and explain college policies and procedures related to academic programs and requirements••Assist prospective students in determining how credits from other institutions are likely to apply to Ithaca College’s Integrative Core Curriculum and other degree requirements•Teach 1 credit Ithaca College Seminar course that is required of all external Ithaca College transfer students•Required to know and be able to access efficiently the degree information for every major in every school in every college catalog year in an effort to maximize advising duties•Prepare advising materials, such as brochures, handouts, postcards, general information summaries, and newsletters•Serve as liaison for departments in providing advisement information•Participate in recruitment and orientation programs for prospective students or participants in special programs, such as internships or advanced standing programs

Responsibilities include:Advising and registering students with course enrollmentProducing retention proposals and monitoring student enrollment dataProviding daily advisement to students regarding career possibilitiesInstructing a mandatory First Year Experience class for studentsWorking collaboratively with faculty, admissions representatives, and other college personnel to both track and ensure student successParticipating in college recruiting and community outreach events

Responsibilities included:Providing support for all retention initiatives in the Transitional, Retention, and Academic Recovery Programs for the Office of Academic SupportDeveloping and monitoring academic success plans for at-risk studentsProviding guidance and support to students in an effort to help them succeed both academically and personally Coordinating with faculty and other college personnel to assist students with course enrollment and registrationAssisting with the planning and implementation of new student orientationMaintaining effective family communication outreach initiatives Serving on various institutional committees as requested
