This role is responsible for leadership, operational and technical management of MPI Verification Services verification and certification programs in the Auckland/Northland regions, as well as contributing to the development and implementation of national programs as part of the Verification Services Leadership Team.Key AccountabilitiesProvide leadership, technical and operational support and management of a team of 58 Professional Veterinarians, Managers, Food Technologists, and other tertiary verifiers/advisors within Auckland and Northland, who are responsible for:• Verifying Risk Management and operator programs for Auckland and Northlands operators processing and/or exporting animal products for over 400 stakeholders• Verifying operator programs relating to the containment and movement of risk materials (containment facilities), including Zoos.• Verification, certification and clearance of live animal imports and exports, including national live animal verification management• National management of the prescribed imported food verification program• Certification (provision of official assurances) for all New Zealand’s dairy export products, and regional non-dairy animal products.In addition, I am the Subject Matter Expert for the directorate business planning processes and modeling.

Provision of technical and market access advice and support to frontline staff, VA management and the wider NZFSA, as it related to the Animal Products Act (primarily), Animal Welfare Act, Food Act, and relevant Overseas Market Access Requirements.Key Achievements• Development of a robust country listing process• NZFSA VA lead and key member of the 2006 MAF/NZFSA working group for the development of the industry guidelines for risk organism response (Bio-security event).• Development of the NZFSA VA Business Plans from 2008, leading to an invitation from the senior NZFSA Board to develop the NZFSA accountability documents.• Lead NZFSA VA specialist advisor responsible for China animal product exports.• Joint developer for changes to the Hormonal Growth Promotant (residues) programme including stakeholder management relating to the changes.• Lead specialist advisor responsible for the live animal and germplasm import and export biosecurity programme.• Developed NZFSA VAs first Managing for Outcomes framework and was a key contributor to the first robust measurement framework for the organization.
