During the Sierra Ready Mix sale transition period discussed below, I worked with Sierra’sformer owner volunteering time during to assist the Blind Center of Nevada with theconstruction and accounting management of their new 8.9 million-dollar 35,000 square footfacility being built for the benefit of the Blind and Visually Impaired population in Las Vegas.I was asked during my volunteer time to join their senior management team as the FinancialController and Head of IT and Human Resources. My duties now include managing variousnon-profit entities and consolidating financials, as well as a complete restructure and overhaulof the Center’s financial and accounting practices and systems. During the construction of thebuilding, significant funds were obtained under the New Market Tax Credit which involvedseveral negotiations and compliance meetings with the City of Las Vegas and their Economicand Urban Development department, and my position also includes continued compliancemanagement with the city.

As the financial controller and part of the senior management team of Sierra Ready Mix, Imaintained a system of internal control, prepared and issued financial statements, dealt withregulatory agencies to assure proper permitting and contract compliance, namely with theBLM and the Department of Air quality, in addition to several other state and federal agencies.Also, I negotiated contracts for insurance, employee benefits, and several vendor relationships.I was head of human resources for 100 employees in addition to all financial and businessduties. In 2016, I was an integral part of a very small team that packaged and brokered themulti-million-dollar sale of Sierra Ready Mix to Summit Materials, Inc. After the purchase, Istayed as a key member and senior manager on the transition team that integrated Sierra’saccounting and IT systems as well as personnel management, until the transition wascompleted at the end of 2017. During the transition, I also acted as the Safety Directorresponsible for transitioning to Summit Safety programs for both OSHA and MSHA regulatedsites.
