The Business Support Function of Insurer Development Group is responsible for a wide range of operational activities supporting the retail network, Call Centres, other internal Swinton departments and our Insurer panel. I provided technical expertise and acted as an escalation point for complexed queries. I also managed the Account relationship for the companies Third party claims providers producing MI, Invoices, complaints monitoring, Call monitoring and offsite visits. In addition, I was authorised to make underwriting decisions for Swinton’s new Home and Motor, single policy wording products as well as being involved in product development.

Insurance broking and AXA accredited underwriter with delegated authority for several specialist household insurers. Responsible for underwriting unoccupied properties, high net worth, previous flood/subsidence, non standard construction, blocks of flats and much more. Maintaining strong relationships with our insurers on behalf of the company as well as negotiating premiums and terms. Key Responsibilities- Working as a key point of contact within the non standard household unit- Broking new and existing business- Assessing complex and substandard risks, applying rates, terms and endorsements- Reviewing documentation to determine the degree of a risk, i.e structural engineers reports- Building and maintaining strong relationships with insurers- Declining excessive risks when necessary- Evaluating the possibility of losses- Maintain a high quality standard of underwriting and passing audit checks- Effectively developing our broker panel.- Working with insurer development team and acting as go-between with insurers/brokers.- Increasing quote-to-sale conversion rate- To hit and exceed targets.- Stand in supervisor in managements absence- Presenting and attending regular meetings, updating the teams on business change- In-house trainer for new starters and underachievers within the team- Mentoring individuals that are striving to achieve more

Prior to underwriting, I was part of the new and existing business team providing advice on specialist home, motor and other insurance products such as caravan, motorcycle and travel. As a high achiever, I progressed into underwriting.
