Whitlock is a 48,000 sq ft mixed-use development in Downtown Syracuse, NY. The building was purchased in 2014, full of asbestos and sitting vacant since 1997. Over the course of the next few years the building went through a $4.5 million renovation transforming it into the first carbon neutral/all electric building of its kind in the area. In total the project has 26 apartments and a 21,000 sq ft commercial tenant, Density Inc. Many local and state agencies have toured the building to form a NYS plan for developers on the energy efficiency conversion of a 100 year old building. The project has been studied by faculty and students at SUNY ESF and Syracuse University.
