IT Infrastructure Digital Twin: During my internship, I spearheaded a project to document 30+ rack elevations in all control centers and server rooms at the Chevron Pascagoula Refinery using Visio. This initiative aimed to create a “digital twin” of the refinery’s IT infrastructure, enhancing accessibility to the layout and components of each server rack. The Visio diagrams were subsequently integrated into Patch Manager, a software designed for extensively mapping organizational IT assets and fiber network infrastructure.Rack Elevation Monitoring: During my internship, I enhanced IT reliability by configuring and installing several environmental monitors in server rooms, allowing for real-time tracking of temperature, humidity, flood risk, etc. Additionally, I configured several power distribution units (PDUs) throughout the refinery, allowing remote access to the electrical status of each rack elevation through its IP address. The data from both the monitors and PDUs were integrated into SolarWinds IT Service Management, improving the refinery’s IT ecosystem.PowerShell Scripting: During my internship, I automated several inefficient system administration tasks through PowerShell scripting, boosting the efficiency and productivity of IT Infrastructure management. Notable scripts I created include a script to retrieve the account authority of all scheduled tasks/services in Chevron’s Active Directory domain to rotate passwords for the 500+ servers and a script to reduce the file size of Visio diagrams by up to 95% and startup time by up to 75%.
