Bashore Scout Reservation

I have worked at Bashore Scout Reservation as the Assistant Rifle Range Director for 2 summers now. While there I have gained experience working at both a rifle and shotgun range and assisted in running both of them. I also would do weekly paperwork which included filling out requirements for the Scouts and filing targets from the rifle range. As well as doing my part in the ranges I would assist in other areas as needed whether it be helping with other merit badges or just assisting Scouts and Scout Leaders with anything they needed to make their stay more enjoyable or if they need help. As our Camp Director says, "Complete all duties as assigned."

Along with my job at Bashore Scout Reservation, the Lodge Advisor of my Lodge contacted me and asked if I would be willing to take the position of Camp Chief for the summer which I accepted. This meant meeting with Troop Leaders on a weekly basis to confirm numbers of those Scouts who had been elected to the Order of the Arrow, running weekly ice cream social events where important information pertaining to the Lodge was presented and where other Arrowmen could meet others, and running the Tap Out ceremony every Friday during the closing campfire ceremony. This included working with 15-30 people and preparing them into regalia for the ceremony, timing the travel of a canoe across the lake, and organizing all of the gear used during the ceremony as well as collecting contact information of those who had been elected for Lodge purposes.
