I started my career by completing an apprenticeship with babcock marine (Clyde) as an electrical maintenance engineer, on completion of my apprenticeship I accepted a full time job with babcock as an electrical fitter working aboard A-class, V-class, T-class submarine and various surface ships carrying out a vast range of electrical jobs. After gaining five years of experience as an electrical fitter I took my opportunity and applied for a role in the commissioning section in Babcock marine Clyde as an electrical commissioning engineer. Having worked alongside this section through the years as a fitter I hit the ground running and used my experience to apply myself and my skills at any opportunity, with this being an office based role I did have to bring the IT skills up to date. There was plenty to learn but the pace was just not there for me and felt my time was better spent elsewhere in a new challenge. I snapped at the opportunity to break into a new field that was diesel generators and have been loving every minute.
