He has acted for shipowners, charterers and commodity traders in London arbitrations including unsafe port claims, late redelivery damages, demurrage and laytime and sale of goods disputes. He acted for the successful respondents in Rhine Shipping DMCC v Vitol SA at first instance and in the Court of Appeal. Ryan also advises on non-contentious matters. He has assisted clients negotiating and drafting vessel sharing agreements, voyage and time charterparties, transhipment agreements and the standard trading terms of a large European-headquartered trading house.
