Sr. Materials Engineer
Current• Provide and optimize broad materials and process support for materials including fiberglass & carbon prepregs, metals, adhesives, sealants and paints.• Support the design, testing, analysis, materials selection, process development, and M&P qualification of Part 23 aircraft.• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate material selection, design, and cost savings.• Conduct Root Cause Analysis, PFMEA/ DFMEA, write corrective actions and non-conformance issues; work with supplier on Supplier Corrective Action Requests (SCARS).• Work closely with FAA, DERs, ODA and Airworthiness for the certification of Part 23 aircraft.• Material Review Board (MRB) unrestricted authority. Disposition nonconformance products for repair, test products, and use-as-is (UAI).• Direct M&P Laboratory Technicians in laboratory for fabrication and design.• Responsible for M&P signatory release of specifications, test plans, and drawings.• Design and analyze inspection and testing processes, conduct quality assurance; and perform analysis to assess the cost of and determine the responsibility for materials that do not meet standards and specifications.• Organize large FAA material qualification projects including Project Specific Certification Plans (PSCP), test plans, test reports, and testing.• Utilize strong communication skills with current and potential suppliers to procure raw materials for new product development and continuous improvement opportunities.• Leverage material specification knowledge to develop and execute material/process improvement and introduce alternate material technology.• Work effectively with members from all disciplines within Cirrus. Projects included the ability to work with project managements, engineering, manufacturing, laboratory technicians, and upper management.• Efficiently organize and track large products via work management software.
