- As an Economic Policy Officer in Ottawa, represented Canada at Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) meetings in Chile and South Korea, responsible for negotiating with other countries to further Canada's economic policy agenda.(2003-2005)- As a Trade Commissioner in Vancouver, supported Pacific Region clean energy and environment sector companies in pursuit of their international business objectives, providing advice on market potential, market entry strategies, financing, etc. Also worked with sectors such as mining, CSR, and transportation (2005-2007)- As Trade Program Manager and Vice-Consul at the Canadian Embassy in Ecuador (2008-2011), managed a team of Trade Commissioners, gaining significant leadership experience during long periods as Charge d'affaires (acting Ambassador) and dealing with a variety of complex and challenging managerial and consular issues, including:- Lobbied foreign government officials in support of Canadian economic, commercial, and political interests, including Ministers and members of Congress.- Worked with NGOs, indigenous groups, Ecuadorian government officials, and the Canadian mining industry to build Ecuadorian capacity to manage their resources responsibly.- Collaborated with International Financial Institutions such as the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), United Nations (UN), and the Organization for American States (OAS) to strengthen democracy in the region.- Advised Canadian companies on the perils and opportunities of doing business in the region, assisting them to navigate the complex, politicized, business environment in Ecuador.- Back in Ottawa, worked as part of the team negotiating the Canada-EU Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA), the most significant trade agreement for Canada since NAFTA. (2011-2013).- Currently Global Affairs Canada's most senior representative in Manitoba. As Trade Commissioner in Winnipeg, advise Prairie agri-food companies on doing business abroad.
