Province Of Manitoba - Mit - Water Management And Structures - Floodway Office

Work is a 70/30 field/office split and is conducted, primarily, for capital crossing replacements across Manitoba. The main responsibility of the position is in overseeing the collection of survey data for the culvert/ bridge replacement sites, and preparing the data for submission to Provincial Engineers, Draft Persons, or Engineering Consulting Firms. Equipment inventory management, on-site data collection, site assessment reporting, project planning and collaborating with other provincial employees are the main tasks involved with the position.

Work is divided into 60/40 office/field work and travel is required province wide. Data is collected using a variety of environmental sampling equipment on water quality, water flow rates in rivers and streams, and construction projects. Office work is primarily in the form of monitoring reports and risk assessment reports filed or submitted to Transport Canada or the Department of Fisheries on water control construction and maintenance activities.

Floodway

Worked a variety of water control projects around the province including Morden Dam Stabilization, Drain and Road construction in Pine Falls, Lac du Bonnet area, Underwater Mapping of the Red River, Flood Forecasting / Flood Fighting work, and more.

Supervised students; planned and participated in the rejuvenation of parks within the City of Winnipeg.

Kilcona Park

Worked in a variety of roles including supervising trimming crews, cutting grass, grooming baseball diamonds, painting lines for baseball diamonds and soccer pitches, and general parks maintenance activities.

All Locations

Provided customer service and retail sales assistance to clients purchasing specialized, licensed sports apparel. Mostly term work around the Christmas holiday season.
