Through effective project management, I lead a group of undergraduate and post-graduate students in the design, construction, and promotion of the Sunstang Solar Car. I developed and managed individual team schedules in order to ensure the timely completion of individual projects prior to the 2014 American Solar Car Challenge. The financial aspect of the role was key not only to remain within budget but also to ensure funds were available for the numerous expenses surrounding a Solar Racing Team. This involved coordinating fundraising activities, grant applications, and sponsorship acquisition. Through hard work and dedication, the team raised sufficient capital, materials, donations, and sponsorship to compete in Sunstangs first solar car event since 2009.

As the head of business operations and finance, I lead a small group of students in the development of the corporate sponsorship program, fundraising activities, and promotional events. Our goal was to ensure the program would be well recognized and respected once we would commence approaching sponsors and fundraising events. Through our activities we were able to attract enough capital to fund the initial construction of our solar car, which would eventually provide us with a strong foundation to achieve our overall team goal of competing in our first solar car event since 2009. As the head of finance I developed an accounting system through the use of excel to maintain accurate record of the teams accounts payable, billing, sponsorship, donations, and expenses. This allowed the team and faculty to make accurate and effective decisions regarding funding and overall completion of the solar car.

As an intern in the Accounts Receivable department at Alberta Health Services, I was largely responsible for developing an understanding of the activities required to maintain rural AHS accounts receivables. This largely included ensuring the accuracy and reliability through the completion and maintenance of individual account statements, variance analysis, reconciliations, and account corrections for allowance for doubtful accounts reports on a daily and monthly basis. I coordinated the annual storage of accounts receivable records. While doing so I was responsible for developing a more effective method of file organization through a more structured and efficient method of file storage. While at AHS, I had the rare opportunity to network with AHS managers and executives to further my knowledge of our provincial health care system and several key business operations within AHS.
