Contracting for Somerset County Coucil. Based in the Highways Department, working for the Traffic Management Team, coordinating/implementing various road closures/travel plans for Major/Minor Events for the Somerset Region. This included assisting on on-going parking and road improvement schemes.

Highways / Drainage design for Residential Developments in the South West.

Following previous experience I joined Coventry City Council Highways Department working in the Development Control/Traffic Management Team. During my time I undertook a number of opportunities to expand my knowledge of civil engineering. My role primarily involved technically reviewing specification and design drawings for Section 278 / Section 38 / Section 220 proposals by combining an understanding of the planning process as well as the principles of design and build (including cost estimates). For a period of time I also dealt with Public Rights of Way enquiries, which further expanded my skill set, as this required accuracy and precision, collating and evaluating historical data for its merit to determine the legality of the application. This helped me gain a knowledge of various highways agreements, processes and solutions as well as an understanding of using softwares such as autoCAD, park map and MAPinfo.
