The purpose of an Application Engineer through Lockheed Martin Manufacturing Technology is understanding the process of building aircraft and finding ways of improving, automating, and simplifying the way an article gets built. This has involved development of new technology, comprehension of what is available in industry, understanding of design, and integration into build processes. In this role, responsibility ranges from funding projection and management to hands on build experience using the integrated technology.

I worked with students to help them with engineering and design related problems. Assisting students included the use of soldering equipment, power tools, AutoCAD, 3D printing software, and 3D printers.

In neuroscience, there is research showing that affective touch (i.e. comforting touch) can be useful stimulation in infants. I was tasked with designing an automated tactile stimulator to provide affective touch to babies. The general hope was to detect early signs of autism in children using the device.

This project focused on the aspects of development of electric cars. I focused on the different elements that impacted the release of an electric car from technologies to company management. The data was used in nodal analysis to try and quantitatively measure the importance of each aspect.

The U.S. Department of Energy Solar Decathlon challenges collegiate teams to design, build, and operate solar-powered houses that are cost-effective, energy-efficient, and attractive. I was charged as team manager for a small group of interns. I was responsible for arranging and leading meetings with consulting companies, arranging deals with potential product suppliers, and leading research efforts to discover methods of producing and saving energy.

I taught the basic concepts of classical violin performance including, performance, practice habits, and techniques.
