What started as a Saturday job helping out at the family business has spiraled into a career that has kept me busy for the past 15+ years. You have got to start somewhere, so I did by answering phones, taking bookings, managing flight lists organising inventory of both office stationary and literally hundreds and hundreds of keys! As soon as I had my driving licence i was pulling and parking customer cars treating every one of them as I did with my beloved VW Polo!As I approached my 21st Birthday, my girlfriend (now wife) and I were beginning to plan our emigration to the USA when the opportunity arose for me to take the position as GM at the company and the rest, they say, is history. I wasn't the only Macrae in the family business, both my siblings, along with both parents and even my Grandfather still work there, this brings its own challenges as anyone who works with family can attest. Its not as bad as they say! working with your family is a gift in many respects and certainly teaches you things that only family can at times.I've achieved more than I ever set out to do at the Airpark, not least steering it through some of the most difficult years Aberdeen has faced following the big recession and I'm very proud to have maintained the livelihood for my family and all the staff at Aberdeen Airpark. I would now welcome the opportunity for a new experience. I feel like I have earned my stripes in the family business and reached the top of the career path there, its time to do something for myself and work in environment that has always inspired my curiosity. Onwards and upwards, I'm ready for a new Adventure!
