Live Carrier network responsibilities (OPTUS, AUSSIE BROADBAND & NEXTHOP etc): - installation of new Fibre joints as required, splicing and routing of optical Fibre cables in existing live network joints to designated customers, internal fibre installs on commercial premises. Fibre cable cut-overs/relocations, end to end OTDR testing including power meter/light source testing, fault rectification if/when required. All required patching work, testing and commissioning inside exchanges and Data Centres, along with completion of asbuilds and workbooks displaying final test results.Rack install’s inside exchanges and Data Centres on various types of rack equipment, Warren & Brown, Codecom, and on a both ribbon and loose tube cables with capacitys upto an including 1728F and 6912F.

Fibre cable cut-overs/relocations, end to end OTDR testing including power meter/light source testing, fault rectification if/when required. All required patching work on end user equipment within Data Centre’s and Telstra Exchange’s.Also carrying out installs of wall cabinets, splice trays and NTU’s on customer premises, and finally commissioning of Fibre service which, connects customers to high-speed wideband internet access.Part of “On Call” Team which responds to faults as customers log them with Vocus NOC.Some of the other projects I have been part of, were to carry out Fibre Installs along re-developed M4 motorway on behalf of major Telco’s, upgrade and install new Fibre cables on the rail network, install wireless routers and build backbone network for Newcastle City Council’s new free public Wifi initiative

Optical fibre and Copper cabling. Fibre Jointing: splicing fibres, creating nodes as required and installing optical fibre cables in exchanges, Optical Consolidation Rack work within the BT exchanges, fault finding and testing using an OTDR and blowing main optical fibre cables and fibre bundles into the network using pneumatic air. Copper jointing mainly on Huawei DSLAM’s and PCP’s, terminating using Krone tools, diverting pairs as required. This was part of the build for the new Openreach network to deliver superfast broadband.
