I am a Mechanical Engineering graduate who worked while earning my degree to obtain life skills necessary for the real world. Working in the retail food services industry on campus provided me with the opportunity to learn skills such as: working with the public, understand how to deal with difficult situations effectively, conflict resolution, as well as processing customer’s orders by means of a POS system. Additional experience gained during college includes a two year internship with a civil engineering firm, where I was responsible for: the collection and analyzing of the road surface images. Collection was achieved via driving a mobile asset collector (MAC) vehicle, which is similar to a Google car. Images were transmitted to the firm for analyses and input of specific data fields based on each projects defined criteria. During my time at USF I was involved in two major class projects: a Covid 19 competition sponsored by the website GrabCad, and my Capstone senior design project. The Covid 19 competition involved designing a ventilator system via Solidworks for use in hospitals. The Capstone project consisted of designing a telescoping grocery cart attachment to assist the handicapped or vertically challenged obtain items on grocery shelves out of their reach. These experiences along with the education I have gained have prepared me to apply these skills in the real world. Additionally, I am currently reviewing and preparing to take the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam in the next test period.
