As the Assistant Director at Hope Valley, Inc. I assist in the oversight of daily operations and management of a large and diverse team of professionals and residential staff members. I also coordinate and facilitate various programs and activities that promote the well-being, recovery, and empowerment of our clients and their families. I am a member of Hope Valley’s Treatment Team, which focuses on client services and person-centered counseling, which include individual, group, and family counseling. I am a member of Hope Valley’s Quality Assurance Team which allows me to work with other professionals to improve the quality of care our organization provides. I assist in the marketing and advertising, alumni outreach, fundraising, and community outreach for the company. As a Residential Staff Member, I assisted in the orientation process for all new clients, which checking their personal items, taking their vitals, and discussing the daily schedule and Client Handbook. Additionally, I assisted in cleaning the facility and prepared meals for clients and staff.

As the Diversity, Inclusion, and Globalization Specialist (DIG) at YMCA Camp Weaver, I supported those in need of additional accommodations, one-on-one facilitation, and differing methods of explanations and directions. I organized and assisted in the facilitation of staff training that included topics such as people first language, how to best address bullying and homesickness, LGBTQUI+ advocacy, how family dynamics can affect a child's behavior and emotions, and more. To better support those in need, I created the following visual aides that include schedules that provide descriptive images and maps that display basic routes to eliminate clutter and confusion.

Eswatini

While living as a Young Adult and Global Missions (YAGM) Volunteer in Eswatini, I accompanied the host companion church (ELCASA). I worked with Lutheran Development Services in their mission to provide services for beneficiaries living with HIV and AIDS, a wide range of disabilities, the elderly, and orphaned or vulnerable children. It was an honor to work alongside the staff at Lutheran Development Services and ELCASA to provide beneficiaries with access to HIV/AIDS educational resources, HIV/AIDS medical assistance, access to food and water, counseling, and other supportive services. My experiences with Lutheran Development Services and ELCASA deepened my awareness of injustice and marginalization in Southern Africa through conversations with members of the community and the staff I worked alongside, resources and reflective retreats with a team of 8 YAGM volunteers and the Country Coordinator.
