The combined concrete package for the construction of 2 new Primary Crushers consisted of 4,100m³ of concrete and 1,800t of reinforcement with complex formwork systems over 12m high walls and a 1.5m thick suspended slab at 10m from the foundation level. Melchor Contracting was responsible for all the permanent and temporary works through supply of labour, plant and materials.

Roles & Responsibilities:• Planning, maintaining and monitoring construction programs and completion of activities involved in Projects, and communicating on same with client, superiors and colleagues• Verifying conformance prior to accepting completed works, liaising with client as necessary• Taking leadership role in co-ordination meetings• Managing communication between subcontractors and team• Preparation and implementation of project management plans• Identifying site infrastructure needs, including temporary works and infrastructure• Maintaining productive relationships with the Project Team, client representatives, sub-contractors, foreman, consultants and several other contractors on site• Demonstrating on a daily basis personal behaviours that uphold LCPL values • Financial accountability of own budget, including forecasting, and implementing cost control procedures.• Managing and supervising a small team, assessing and approving their work to ensure quality standards and deadlines are met.• Organizing work and ordering materials in accordance with Programme, providing input into Programme and monitoring progress against Programme.

General Responsibilities Include:•To undertake setting out and the management of setting out.•To control the works of the labour teams and to issue works to Foreman, gangs and subcontractors.•To ensure that all site works are conducted in a safe manner. •To at all times be aware of the value / cost of the materials they are using and to adopt a sustainable approach.•Produce Method statements & Risk assessments.•Liaison with designers to raise and answer technical queries.•Monitor additional work, day work and/or delays to ensure that costs are recouped.•Monitor progress against master programme, identify anomalies and implement rectification.•Monitor quality, safety and environmental systems to ensure compliance to Carillion’s management systems.•Monitor temporary works to ensure they are fit for use.•Long & Short term programming to monitor against master programme.
