Throughout the years, Ryan has built a strong working knowledge of military operations, and how the equipment used in these operations can determine the outcome of an engagement. Raised in Germantown, Maryland, Ryan began his career at a young age, spurred on by the hyper active defense and political cultures of the Washington D.C. area. Now, with more than six years as a defense consultant and analysis, Ryan has been called upon to provide expert opinions on a number of issues, specifically involving sea power, power projection, operations other-than-war, defense and civil aerospace, and the operations of Private Military Companies. Ryan has used his experiences and background to concepts for next-generation weapon systems including the Gatekeeper Vertical-Lift-Aircraft.Now, a published commentator on US defense policy, Ryan has provided expert testimony on multiple issues—including the probability of a No-Fly-Zone over the Darfur region of Sudan. Ryan has been awarded with an honorary resolution for exemplary work in the preservation of aerospace history, and has been recognized as an Expert Advisor in the fields of Military Aviation and Sea Power by the International Affairs Committee of the State of Hawaii’s House of Representatives.As the Managing Director of Beowulf Defense and Security, Ryan serves as the principal representative of the firm's ideologies and mission statement.
