About Ryan Shipman
I have spent 12+ years in various roles in the retail industry. Started off building displays and merchandising for The Home Depot, then transitioned to store sales with Kellogg's. At Kellogg's I worked my way up to a traveling sales representative running a different route and managing a different team every week while I learned to use new sales technology. In 2018 I found the opportunity to independently run a solo sales route on my own for Snyder's/ Lance which later became owned by Campbells. My sales role forced me to learning how to troubleshoot many software and networking issues on an Intermec handheld device that ran a Linux Operating system. After years of running the route the hybrid online/ in store retail roles began to take off so made the switch and joined Sam's Club as an Order Fulfillment Associate. My work at Sam's lead me to take an interest in cybersecurity after helping to prevent instances of members using a combination of social engineering and hacking to steal from the store. I am now enrolled in the Cyber Security Bootcamp at the University of Central Florida and I am also working towards my Security+ certification which I am scheduled to take on April 28th 2023. I feel that my proven abilities to adapt to changing priorities and to troubleshoot technology problems have greatly improved the technical skills that I am steadily improving and developing. I am exciting to bring my growing list of transferable skills to a career as a SOC Analyst, and I am open to other positions in the industry. Please contact me to learn how I can help your SOC team!Key Skills: Networking, Network Monitoring, Microsoft Windows, Active Directory, Windows Server, Kali Linux, Linux Debian/ Ubuntu, PowerShell, Wireshark, Firewalls, pfSense, Port Forwarding, Amazon Web Services, Suritaca, Snort, Splunk, Apache, ClamAV, Troubleshooting, Endpoint Security.

Role listed
Technical Support Representative
I provide technical support for a fortune 500 company where I work on a secret project with security clearance. I provide troubleshooting and resolve technical issues with cloud services, computers, smart phones, tablets, and other smart devices. In addition to troubleshooting I perform incident response on devices and accounts that have been compromised. Working with the client I limit and stop the damage done by the attacker, help the client regain access to their cloud account, kick the attacker out of the cloud account, and eliminate malware from all devices. When called for I remotely diagnose hardware issues and begin the repair process, if the hardware passes I isolate and resolve the software or user issue that is causing the problems.
Cyber Security Student Career Simulation Projects
As a cybersecurity student I have successfully completed multiple career simulated projects. I have set up and connected a secure network for a small business including Servers, routers, switches, VLAN's, subnetting multiple endpoint devices and implementing the principle of least privilege. I have set up and implemented a pfSense firewall for a companies remote work force that blocked gaming sites while allowing all necessary internet access for work related activities, including setting up port forwarding to send all communication from remote work devices thru the firewall. To finish securing the network I implemented Suricata to block and log Dos and Brute Force attacks, then pen tested my own work using Kali Linux and checked to make sure everything was blocked and logged. Used my DF skills to investigate a cloned hard drive and find artifacts needed to prosecute cyber criminals. I am excited to complete my next project and join the cybersecurity industry so that I can improve and add to my skills.

Order Fulfillment Associate
I am presently using Linux software on TC5 handheld devices to pick and distribute online orders to customers. I practice my communication and teamwork skills daily to help my team get orders done quickly and accurately, and as orders come in and customers show up I am constantly using my ability to adapt and reprioritize as circumstances change. At times members have attempting to use stolen data to socially engineer our managers into giving them laptops and other computer merchandise, in these situations I used my communication skills and knowledge of our software to confirm and stop the scam. During the holiday season 2020 we began doing deliveries strait from our store which opened us up to more security concerns as we could not ID the member before giving out the product. After this service was used by a hacker to obtain a laptop through another persons account I began calling all members ordering high theft items to confirm the sale as soon as the order came in to mitigate the risk. This job has greatly enhanced my critical thinking, communication, teamwork, problem solving and risk mitigation abilities.
