Ryan Smith is a Director - Manufacturing Process Engineering at BLUE ORIGIN. Colleagues describe them as "Ryan has provided outstanding STEM and project management in support of the USG. During the 2 years I was his Division Chief, Ryan played a pivotal role in ensuring conceptual ideas were turned into operational capabilities. He personally authored and coordinated sixteen different purchase request packages for acquisition efforts. These packages transitioned critical capabilities in support of multiple programs and groups within the USG. Due to his outstanding reputation for quality work, Ryan was given the task of leading a critical facilities project for the USG. He conducted a market survey, generated drawings, and obtained and evaluated vendor proposals. Prior to my departure, was in the process purchasing and installing the capability in a USG facility. Additionally, he was co-authoring safety and industrial hygiene plans to facilitate the deployment and operation of this capability for the USG. As part of this effort, Ryan was selected to attend a rigorous training course and receive specialty training to become an expert on other capabilities used within this facility. The training provides both theoretical and practical instruction and culminates in a one-day scenario where students successfully demonstrate proficiency in operation of these capabilities.
