I currently lead the Microbiology department within the Ag Business Unit of Ginkgo Bioworks in West Sacramento, CA., directing molecular biology, strain improvement, and molecular detection teams, overseeing the maintenance and distribution of our vast collection of microbial assets

Led the Microbial Genetics function for Bayer Biologics, overseeing strain improvement and molecular biology activities, development of novel internal technologies, and scouting and evaluation of third parties for collaboration.

Accountable/responsible for the discovery and nomination of strains to the BioAg Alliance with Novozymes for large scale microbial field trials, coordinating enrichment & isolation activities, sample prep, sequencing, compliance, and LIMS development for the program.

Part of the founding 7-person team at an agricultural startup, spun-out from Synthetic Genomics, Inc., that discovered, characterized, and applied plant-associated microbes in broad-acre yield field trials, with assets, IP, and staff transferred to Monsanto within the first 20 months of operations.

Led bioprospecting, microbial isolation, and biochemical characterization campaigns for discovery of plant-associated microbes for agricultural applications.
