Scientific Consultant focused on solving complex technical problems for a variety of industries including plastics, bioplastics, pharmaceuticals, and biotechnology, among others. Previous projects include design and analysis of implantable medical materials and devices, failure analysis of rubber components, plastic pipes, safety equipment, building materials, and support for pharmaceutical processes. Particular focus is given to effective communication to ensure solutions are both comprehensive and easily understood.

- In addition to my role at Exponent, I teach graduate level courses at Drexel University: Biomaterials I, Biomaterials II, and Biomaterials III.

- Designed, synthesized, and characterized novel hyaluronic acid derived polymers and synthetic peptides to generate nanofibrous, biomimetic hydrogels that synthetically replicate natural extracellular matrix features.- Engineered protease-degradable nanofibrous hydrogels and evaluated their in vitro and in vivo utility through mechanical characterization (oscillatory rheometry, dynamic mechanical analysis, swelling behavior) and biological characterization (enzymatic degradation, fluorometric molecule release, subcutaneous degradation). - Demonstrated the ability to spatially alter cell adhesion through the presentation of cell adhesive peptides while simultaneously altering cell morphology through fibrous cell-material interactions.- Developed novel protease sensors to visually and quantitatively detect changes in the activity of cell-secreted proteases of different cell lines in response to presented biomaterial features and growth media components.

- Manufacturing supervisor responsible for 24 hour/7 day a week first-line technical support for all production operations related to purification of the human papillomavirus (HPV) L1 protein for bulk Gardasil® Manufacturing. - Technical support includes production of eleven associated buffer solutions, cell homogenization, HS and HA chromatography, filtration operations, and all automated systems (DeltaV, Unicorn software).- Directly managed labor relations, technical training, and daily work schedules for 25 union biotechnicians responsible for production operations of Merck’s only licensed Gardasil® manufacturing facility.

- Explained and guided undergraduates in materials engineering principles and characterization techniques including tensile, toughness, and hardness testing.
