As an external examiner for the MA social work program, I am committed to maintaining high academic standards and enhancing the educational quality of the institution. My role centers on reviewing and evaluating various student examinations and coursework, ensuring that all assessments are fair, consistent, and aligned with the national benchmarks for social work education. I offer insightful feedback to the program’s faculty, recommending enhancements and promoting best practices to improve the curriculum. My efforts are geared toward ensuring that the training provided is both rigorous and relevant, ultimately preparing students to excel in the field of social work

I am the Director of Crescendo, a social worker led community interest company that believes the current social care system needs to be reimagined. We work with organisations to increase the amount of time practitioners spend in direct practice with children and families. We draw on our small changes methodology to break down the barriers which prevent practitioners from spending time investing in relationships with families. The approach centers and values practitioners’ knowledge, expertise and experience. Changes are designed and delivered by practitioners as they are best positioned to identify what needs to change to enable them to build more meaningful relationships with children and families. As Curriculum and Learning Lead, I played a pivotal role in shaping and delivering the national Pathways Programme for children's social care leaders, launched in Autumn 2022. I was responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of the program, I ensured a high standard of learning and development for up to 1000 leaders annually, spanning Practice Supervisors to Practice Leaders. Through a blend of residentials, self-directed study, online workshops, and coaching, I cultivated the leadership skills essential for driving positive change. My role involved adeptly managing relationships with internal colleagues, external partners, and facilitators to uphold Frontline's teaching and learning standards. Focused on instilling lasting impact, I was dedicated to developing leaders' expertise for the benefit of their teams and the children and families they serve.

Working with social work students, I am responsible for their academic progress which involves both 1 to 1 and larger group teaching. I teach across the social work curriculum where there is a focus on social justice, ethics and values as well as practical skills rooted in systemic family therapy, motivational interviewing and parenting strategies.

I worked on two main projects at SCIE, establishing What Works for Children’s Social Care and developing and improving social work practice in Jersey Children’s Services. With What Works; I led on the delivery of the engagement workstream. I designed and facilitated consultation events with children, parents and families with lived experience. Part of the engagement work involved presenting to senior management teams across the country, introducing the work of the centre and encouraging take up of What Works products and services. With Jersey, I worked on the project for a year. I led on co-producing a practice model with leaders and staff and delivered supplementary individual and group supervision to all family facing practitioners. I worked with the senior management team, developing a theory of change, to consider how best to embed the model with respect to their five-year improvement plan.I was an active part of the team developing SCIE’s offer to the children’s sector. Focused on co-production I am worked in partnership with Local Authorities to develop a co-production offer. Using SCIE’s expertise in evidence informed practice and systems thinking, we worked with leaders to consider what outcomes the strength of co-production, identifying opportunities for future development.

I joined the London Borough of Newham as a social worker before progressing into an Advanced Practitioner position. As part of this role I supported students as a Consultant Social Worker, working with units of students and providing group supervision and teaching. As a senior social worker I took on a mentoring role for colleagues specifically focused on the development of systemic family therapy ideas in social work practice.

Working in the centre of Manchester I worked with a diverse range of children and families in both assessment and child protection and children who are looked after teams.
