About Ryan Abel

Community has been the focus of my nearly twenty-year career. Starting off as a paperboy and currently working on the launch of a new public charter school, I have worked from the neighborhood level up to an international non-profit to help bring us together.What I have learned is that people are at their best when they feel empowered. This is achieved by ensuring they have tools to be effective in life and that when they speak they believe their voice is heard.Knowledge is power. One of my passions is literacy and public education. The formative years are critical for the life trajectory for any person, and despite various challenges that he or she might face, knowing how to read and synthesize information should not be one of them.Inner cities in America are currently producing countless young adults who feel disenfranchised and are many times underserved by their public schooling system. I want to help fix that on the front end.
