Planet Innovation is a Melbourne based Product Development consultancy.I have been responsible for delivering a hardware connected software app for an Australian startup, and for overseeing an ISO13485 software development program for an in field medical device. I managed the design, development, and marketing release of a connected software app for an electromechanical device. I worked directly with the client side CEO, COO and Marketing team to define development strategy and marketing requirements, led a software and Industrial Design team to generate and implement UX design, use cases, workflows and test cases, and managed the budget, schedule, and resourcing. Following a well received marketing release, I handed over the project to the Software team lead to implement the final features.I oversaw the sustaining software development program for an on market ISO13485 medical device, working primarily with the client and team Project Managers to develop a release strategy, oversee budgets and support resourcing and project delivery. During this time I oversaw the delivery of multiple software updates, detailed release planning supporting business needs, and team structure refinement and growth to increase development capacity.

I was responsible for establishing manufacturing capability for the US based assay development division of Lumos Diagnostics, a startup venture of Planet Innovation. I led the manufacturing group, managed the budget, resourcing, and reporting, and worked closely with the CEO, US Manager, and Sales team.I joined The Lumos team shortly after acquisition of the US division, and navigated the challenges of company integration, and sharing time between the Australian and US offices.On handover to a permanent US based operations manager, I had initiated multiple manufacturing projects and established a new office and manufacturing facility.

I was responsible for managing the design, development and transfer to manufacture of an FDA approved medical device for an established US company. I managed project budgets, schedules, resourcing and reporting, and led a large cross functional team of Software, Electrical, Mechanical, ID and Systems Engineers. I worked closely with the Program Supervisor, and the client side Program Manager, Technical Lead and Marketing Lead.I managed the project from concept to manufacture, challenged by a two year quick-to-market development. I also spent significant time managing technical risk, and developing solutions to achieve technically challenging performance requirements. The product has been highly successful exceeding sales estimates, and achieved a large reduction in product cost while increasing functionality and usability. The design and documentation was FDA cleared, and received two Australian Good Design Awards. I received a promotion partway through the project.

I was responsible for managing the design and development of an FDA approved imaging module for and established company. I managed the budget, schedule and reporting, and led a team of Mechanical and Electrical Engineers. I worked directly with the client side Project Manager and Technical Lead.I took the project on after a proof of concept prototype had been developed, and managed the challenge of transferring 3rd party design knowledge and documentation. I also balanced duel roles acting as both the Project Manager, and System Design and Verification lead. The product was successfully granted FDA approval, and achieved the clients goals for integration into a larger system currently in development.

I was accountable for managing the delivery of an investor prototype for an Australian startup developing a connected consumer appliance, as well as the design of a complex micro-fluidics delivery system for a medical device.I managed the project and the prototype design, and worked directly with the client side CEO, a 3rd party app developer, and a small team of Industrial Design and Mechanical Engineers. During the project I also supported the generation of funding by preparing government grant applications, and supported a Patent Attorney in generation of IP. The project culminated in delivery of a functional concept prototype and connected app, demonstrating production look and feel.I designed, documented and verified a micro-fluidics system meeting challenging requirements. This included significant technical challenges and in-depth assessment of multiple technology approaches and supporting designs. I reported to the Project Manager, and worked with client side technical peers.
