This involved supporting the discovery and documentation of existing technical systems and their current state of compliance with best practices, as well as designing common frameworks for future development.Large Consumer Credit Reporting Agency:Supplied accelerated development and architecture capability to help the client deliver an internal cloud infrastructure solution leveraging a web application running on Django (Python) backed by a workflow orchestration framework using Airbnb's Airflow platform and custom built API client Python libraries. This system provides the client's customers with full self-service capability of VMs, load balancing, firewall configurations, DNS options, active/passive disaster recovery options, etc. Interfaced systems and technologies: Tufin Firewall, F5 Load balancers, Venafi, Openstack, Microsoft VMM, Maximo, Jenkins, Chef, RabbitMQ, and Celery.Delivered a highly configurable automation solution of ticket system 2-way synchronization between IBM Maximo and LeanKit utilizing custom built API client libraries in Python.Large Automotive Client:Provided full-stack web development to accelerate migration from a Microsoft stack web application to a more modern solution utilizing Node, React, MongoDB, and client-side JavaScript.

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Management Information Systems Office (MISO): Mr. Back has served as Special Projects Lead at MISO where he has analyzed high priority production system issues, presented source of the issue as well as solution to the MISO team, and acted on those solutions to alleviate high profile problems with web applications and services. Mr. Back has also served as Lead Developer over multiple web application projects leveraging his C#, ASP .NET, SQL, jQuery, JavaScript, HTML, MVC, and CSS skills to provide rich and interactive web applications to serve MISO’s clients. Mr. Back continues to provide proposals and technical insight to the Application Governance Council (AGC) including work on the Development Education Vehicle web application as well as documenting all MISO shared libraries to provide a catalog base to developers looking for existing code bases to maintain look, feel, and robustness of MISO products. Mr. Back has also served as developer for the Production Support Pilot where he worked with a MISO team to demonstrate the effectiveness of having a dedicated production support team. In this effort, he met with the Federal Project Manager weekly to provide consistent and detailed status reports on open and upcoming tasks.

Department of Defense (DOD), Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL): Mr. Back has contributed to the Hybrid Integration and Virtualization Environment (HIVE) by creating a playback system for recording and applying playback controls to simulated and live recorded environments using C++. The system uses a modified version of Electronic Art’s (EA) Interchange File Format (IFF) data layout. He has also had experience with Fortran from working with (Enhanced Surface to Air Missile Simulation) ESAMS where he contributed to integrating TMAP missile models (C++) into the ESAMS (Fortran) model. Mr. Back has also had the opportunity to assist in Web development. He has created many websites that are used for Meeting Registration which helps the attendees find local restaurants, hotels, etc. while providing the host of the meeting with a list of fully detailed information from each of the attendees as well as their dates of attendance. This is done by ASP.NET interfacing with a Visual Basic backend and connected to a SQL database.While working at the Simulation and Analysis Facility (SIMAF) at Wright Patterson Air Force Base, Mr. Back has worked with unmanned Air vehicle (UAV) collision avoidance simulations and algorithms in C++ within the Linux environment for the Navy’s Northrop Grumman MQ-4C BAMS (Broad Area Maritime Surveillance) unmanned air vehicle a derivative of the Air Force’s Northrop Grumman RQ-4 Global Hawk. He has also provided analysis of data using custom built BASH scripts and C# applications to organize output data to human readable values and results.

Before joining Booz Allen, Mr. Back worked as a Software Design Intern at I.M. Systems Group where he developed Web based GUI’s for the Department of Homeland Security. He programmed in VB .NET and used ASP .NET, HTML, JavaScript, and SQL. His primary goal for the summer was to build classic ASP web-applications and integrate them to modify and present data warehoused in SQL databases.

Mr. Back worked for Emerson Climate Technologies where he provided help for the process of switching to ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library). His role in this was to communicate with all I.T. related faculty and provide detailed flowcharts of any business process or request that member was responsible for. This was mainly done in Microsoft Visio. His other main role at Emerson was to provide support for the entire datacenter. These tasks included: upgrading servers, setting up servers, wiring switches/routers, and some minimal client-side server support.
