Led the Android team from zero to launch in ninety days. - Guided the team through choosing helpful open source projects to increase our productivity, stability, and flexibility (i.e., Otto, Dagger, Robolectric, and Mockito). - Personally coded core networking classes, a large percentage of content management classes, most of the content creation classes (activities, fragments, and layouts). - Built out base classes for our suite of unit tests. - Introduced Maven to the team for project build automation and dependency management. - Set-up and configured continuous integration build server. - Mentored summer intern while continuing to lead the team to launch. - Quickly responded to bug reports, turned out fixes as soon as possible and shipped updates immediately.Worked directly with product management to ensure the application was meeting and/or exceeding their expectations. - Continually reviewed project requirements and expectations and adjusted the team’s priorities as needed. - Launched the Android application with more than the agreed-upon feature set.Helped the iOS team launch the company’s first mobile app. - Identified the most valuable events to track in the application. - Implemented all of the analytics tracking in the app, which included both client and server-side work. - Worked with the iOS team to identify and fix bugs leading up to the launch.

From product inception to launch, I led the development efforts of Sidecar for the Android platform, working on nearly every feature in the application. - Forked libjingle and compiled it against the Android NDK. - Defined and implemented all JNI integration points. - Identified ways to leverage XMPP to pass custom messages between clients and platforms. - Worked with the design team to define the user interface and interaction model. - Implemented group messaging and calling features for 1 to N communication. - Led the effort to identify, design, and flesh-out the necessary server-side APIs to support the goals of the application. - Guided the Android QA team to the most effective way of testing and identifying bugs.

Designed, developed, and launched Tupalo’s local search application for Android from zero to launch. - Architected and implemented server-side APIs required for the mobile applications to retrieve relevant business information for the mobile clients. - Used geolocation information to help users discover local businesses through keyword search, category search, and an augmented reality view.Led efforts to improve overall performance and scalability of the site. - Migrated the server codebase to leverage JRuby. - Identified and resolved configuration issues that were limiting the number of concurrent connections and ultimately turning users away during peak usage.

Designed and implemented a custom order-management system for a vinyl record manufacturing business. - Gathered and interpreted requirements from stakeholders to design and develop a web-based solution to fulfill and streamline business objectives from the ground up. - Designed and implemented complex data models to handle all data storage requirements. - Leveraged Aspect Oriented Programming techniques to capture events for logging and exception tracking without having to modify business-critical code. - Created multiple PDF and Excel reports that generated on-demand. - Used JavaMail APIs to send over a dozen different custom emails using Velocity Templates.

Identified the need for a new web service for music playback. - Designed and implemented new software that Rhapsody was able to leverage not only for the Flash-based playback on Rhapsody.com, but also for easy partner integration. Partner integrations included iLike and Yahoo! Music. - Developed software to easily scale across the server farm with minimal effort. - Used Java, Tomcat, JNDI, JMS, Spring (IOC/DI, AOP, MVC), ehcache, ibatis, SOAP, JSON, and XML-RPC. Worked directly with the Director of Product Management to design and prototype new and innovative features for Rhapsody. - Prototyped Rhapsody for Android on the G1. - Created a playlist builder in my spare time, which allowed users to quickly search the entire catalog and build a Flash-based player that could be embedded anywhere on the web. The editorial staff adopted the prototype to create playlists for the Rhapsody Editors’ blog. - Prototyped a real-time geographical playback monitor using IP geo-coding and Google Maps APIs to place actual song playback on a Google Map.Led and managed a distributed team of engineers in the design and development of the Music by Rhapsody for Facebook application from the ground up. - Worked directly with the SVP of Music Services to identify key features and functionality. - Determined the feature set and designed the user experience for the application. - Designed data models and database schema for the application. - Designed and implemented integration points with Rhapsody Direct Web Services, Facebook, and communication with our own Flash player. - Mentored junior developers in good design and testing methodologies.Worked as part of a small team to develop Rhapsody 4.0. - Worked on all aspects of the application development, from front-end UI to the data access layer. - Authored automated testing framework for internal QA organization in which hundreds of tests have been written against.

Developed business-critical reporting tools for the chemical inventory tracking system. - Developed a Java web application using Struts MVC architecture and custom tag libraries. - Managed software testing, including creating test plans, testing, and assisting in the release of updated applications. - Responsible for enhancing, modifying, and maintaining existing applications. - Designed and developed a Java application for Palm OS PDAs using Java 2 Micro Edition (CLDC/MIDP) to capture user input and allow for the upload of data to an Oracle database through a custom conduit. - Ported existing Oracle Forms and Reports 6i applications from a client/server architecture to run from an Oracle Application Server instance.
