Operate as a 1 man unit to ensure the safety of personnel, product, and property. Armed at all times and maintaining vigilance while working in a rapidly changing schedule.

My responsibilities as a team leader were to train up to 4 soldiers on weapons and tactics leading to eliminating enemy forces while making sure my team was physically fit at all times. I was primarily responsible for my soldiers well being and motivation. As well as taking care of soldiers I was responsible for handing up to four-million dollars worth of equipment at a time. Being deployed at this position I was responsible for controlling the entry point to a base where I searched all personnel that wished to enter as well as their vehicles for contraband. Being the senior team leader in the squad I would fill in for the squad leader in his absences.

My primary responsibilities as a squad leader was to train up to 6 soldiers on weapons and tactics to eliminate any enemy as well as make sure they are physically fit. Also I had to appoint team leaders and train them so they too could one day be a squad leader. A step above a team leader I had to plan training events that would simulate combat and stressful situations so that they could operate under all circumstances.

Company Intelligence Support Teams (CoIST) are responsible for analyzing all the data that is reported in their area of responsibility and assess the threat so the commander is aware through our briefs. During my time as a member of this team we set a battalion standard and were named the best team out of the battalion against five other teams. Our hard work and dedication led to us accomplishing the missions we needed to complete as well as focus on our training harder to fit the needs of the commander and mission.

As a Radio Transmission Operator (RTO) I was responsible for making sure everyone in the platoon sometimes up to thirty-two people had communications. Before missions and training events I had to set up all the radios and input frequencies as well as use tools to encrypt codes into our transmissions. During missions and training events where I was walking I had a radio on my back where I would serve as the middle man from my platoon leadership to higher leadership so they could track our movement and actions.

I served as a gunner for most of my deployment to Afghanistan. My primary weapons were the M2 .50 cal machine gun, M240L machine gun, MK48 machine gun, MK19 grenade launcher, M4 carbine rifle, as well as one of the few (less then 10 out of 100) that were certified on the Individual Target Acquisition System which fired the Tubular launched Optically tracked Wire guided missile.
