Worked in a team of 3 students to develop a system to monitor a group of worker machines for efficiency, success rates, warnings, and errors. Data from each worker was collected by a program written in Python and sent to Carriots, an Internet of things platform, where the data was aggregated, and action could be taken such as alerting staff about anomalies in the process. The aggregated data was also used to generate a web-based dashboard using Freeboard, another web platform.

Worked as a part of the Northbound Interfaces team to develop a Python-based SDK for creating applications on Extreme Switches. Also worked on the ExtremeXOS I/O project, which leverages the Python SDK to create an extensible framework for implementing northbound interfaces such as NetConf and REST. Developed using C and Python on ExtremeXOS, a Linux-based OS.

Worked as part of the Software Defined Networking (SDN) team to develop a Neutron plugin for OpenStack to control Extreme Switches and virtual switches in a cloud networking environment. Added REST APIs, written in Python, to the Extreme Networks plugin to allow clients to dynamically register new compute nodes and their connectivity with the plugin. Also developed code to enable the plugin to use this new information to automatically configure network properties, such as multi-chassis link aggregation (MLAG) and VLANs, on Extreme switches. Developed using Python in an OpenStack environment.

Used Aspect Oriented Programming for Perl to implement a profiling tool that tracked the functions called by test scripts and where they were called from. This profiling information was cached locally on the test stations, and then periodically uploaded to a centralized SQL server allowing profiling information from tests run on multiple distributed servers to be collected and analyzed. This project was part of a larger initiative to improve library reuse.

Wrote perl modules that enabled Performance QA tests to automatically execute Performance Measurement (PM) tests on a remote server. The code supported selecting the equipment to use, the connectivity, and which tests to execute. My code would periodically poll the PM server, retrieve the test results when done, and make the results available to the calling script in a usable format.

Worked as a part of a team to build three robots. Was the only programmer during the first year. In the second year, I taught C++ to seven other students, and led the Controls Team for the robot development. Used National Instruments cRIO controller, VxWorks Operating System, C++, and complex mechanical designs including the control of pneumatic systems, potentiometers, motors, speed controllers, range finders, and an optical camera.
