• Lead engineer in design and development of FDA-approved prototype and production assemblies. Developed 2 small-scale R&D systems, increasing experimental rate from 1 to 26 experiments per month; 1 patent approved (US-20220401973-A1) and 1 patent pending for inventions used in high-temperature/corrosive environments.• Designed 2D/3D components used in novel scientific applications, managed BOMs via PDM, and sourced components from portfolio of suppliers. Led engineering reviews to address product failures, assembly inefficiencies, cost drivers, and testing results.• Reduced cost and weight of custom components >50% by using FEA and CFD to optimize designs. Improved thermal control by building and validating thermal management incubators with PID control.• Project-managed cross-functional team to brainstorm new features, build proof-of-concept prototypes, perform feasibility testing, and estimate production pricing for next-generation products. Key responsibilities included mechanical/electrical system integration, design for assembly, design for manufacturing, and ingress protection.• Reduced cost and emissions of injection molding by identifying and formalizing material change from ABS to polypropylene, resulting in 572,000 kg CO2 EQ saved annually and 36% cost reduction.

• Designed IP67 enclosure and mounting assemblies (75+ total parts) for internal and external customers. Optimized 800+ pound battery pack structure using FEA. Validated designs with destructive and nondestructive tests.• Partnered with domestic and international vendors to increase manufacturing volumes from 1 to 25k per year.
