The Institute of Physical Art, founded in 1978 promotes the use of manual therapy and education to facilitate optimum human function. After completing his fellowship Ryan chose to continue working at IPA Manhattan and continue to participate in the the Institute of Physical Art's Functional Manual Therapy Fellowship Program under the mentorship of Dean Hazama, MPT, FFMT, FAAOMPT. Focus of training is on high level manual and manipulative skills with high emphasis placed on clinical reasoning and management of complex patients who have failed with traditional physical therapy.

VARDᾹN is a joint collaboration between the Times of India and the Institute of Physical Art to bring Functional Manual Therapy and advanced physical therapy clinical skills and services to India. The clinic is set up as a residency program where certified and highly trained American physical therapists move to India to train Indian Physiotherapists in Functional Manual Therapy.I am the primary instructor for the first year residents. My primary role is providing mentorship and training for the 1st year residents, although I do also mentor the second year residents. I provide 8 hours of in-service instruction per week on basic to advanced manual skills in Functional Manual Therapy as instructed by the Institute of Physical Art. I also provide 15-20 hours of additional clinical mentorship where I am overseeing multiple patients being treated by 2-3 residents at the same time, assisting in clinical reasoning, performance of manual skills, and introduction to new treatment techniques when appropriate.
