NBN Co was established to design, build and operate Australia’s wholesale broadband access network with the underpinning purpose of connecting Australia and bridging the digital divide. As a data science intern, I worked with a like-minded team of aspiring analytics professionals to analyse 400,000 customer experience surveys gathered by NBN and 25,000 social media messages/posts from Facebook and Twitter to help the business understand the drivers of customer dissatisfaction.We employed ordered logistic models and multiple linear regression models in R to model the effect of factors on various satisfaction scores and used gensim and NLTK in Python to preprocess and topic model the social media messages.

Momentium Consultancy is a student-run organisation that specialises in consulting start-ups. As a consultant, I worked with a team to create a start-up school that aimed to teach students about start-ups and connect aspiring entrepreneurs together.In creating the start-up school, my team and I created a comprehensive six-lesson curriculum to provide students with the skills and knowledge to begin their own start-ups, conducted market research with surveys and talking to start-up experts to understand what the main audience would want, ran digital marketing campaigns to promote the school and its mission to expand the start-up industry among young entrepreneurs in Victoria, and pitched our ideas to gain speakers and industry support and receive feedback and advice to improve the curriculum and operational aspects of the school. The school received support from large organisations such as Start-Up Victoria and speakers from internationally renowned corporations, and recorded an attendance of over 130 aspiring entrepreneurs at its first event. Having very little experience with start-ups before joining this project, the exposure I gained to start-ups proved to be a valuable and insightful experience that greatly enhanced my knowledge and my skills.

The Students@Work Program at the University of Melbourne aims to provide students with work experience and up-skill them during their time at university. I joined this program in the university's call centre where I was responsible for delivering high quality customer service by resolving customer enquiries within specified time frames in a high pressure environment by providing accurate and appropriate information using online resources like ask.unimelb and the university's official database tool Student One, and facilitating information flows between departments when enquiries were not in my jurisdiction.
