As an Associate Professor of Practice and Mental Health Concentration Chair, I am charged with ensuring our students gain the critical competencies to enter the social work field. Additionally, I actively engage in the development, implementation, and research of evidence-based treatments through academic-community partnerships to help close the mental health service quality gap that exists in the region.

As the assistant Dean for social work I worked as a key member of the educational leadership team co-leading our CSWE accreditation process and program competency assessment; elevated a range of supports to support academic success and support students in achieving their goals; and actively worked to assess the impact of our school’s educational policies to ensure equitable outcomes for all our students.

STLCFD strives to improve the quality and access of mental health services in the St. Louis region through innovative, evidence-based, and trauma-informed therapy services; high quality and comprehensive workforce development programs; and transforming institutional culture and service systems through consultation and research. As COO and Co-Founder of STLCFD, I work tirelessly to improve the availability and quality of mental health services in an effort to reduce suffering and misery in our region. After 13 amazing years in business, Sparlin closed its doors; however it’s impact in the community will not sunset.

Teaching graduate level social work courses with a focus on treatment of mental health disorders

Working with Adolescent Dialectical Behavior Therapy Teams and Programs in the Eastern, Southeastern, and Central regions of Missouri. Duties include: assessing current programming, providing recommendations for moving toward fidelity of Standard DBT, as well as providing clinical and technical training and consultation.

Provide Program and Clinical oversight to Family Reunification Program.

Provide outpatient mental heath treatment for mostly impoverished families. Participate and integral in starting and maintaining an adolescent Dialectical Behavor Therapy program through the county.

Co-founded mental health private practice specializing in Dialectical Behavior Therapy for individuals with Borderline Personality Disorder and Emotion Dysregulation Disorders. Provide Adolescent, Family, and Individual DBT treatment as well as other evidenced-based treatment for Depression, Anxiety, Eating Disorders, Sever Mood Disorders, and Trauma.

Fulfilled post-graduate fellowship with the University of Michigan Department of Social Work and Psychiatry focusing on mental health treatment of children, adolescents, families, and adults.
