Global Virtualization Architect
I loved my time at Intel® - the people, the work, the achievements. I joined Invantia Solution Services (ISS) hoping to continue that great feeling with fellow former coworkers. Unfortunately, the Great Recession had a different idea as investors became more cautious and, ultimately, the start-up failed to start-up.The position consisted of work similar to Intel® Solution Services, but on a more intensely focused scale. Functionally, the role established the consulting transaction-to-relationship process, created stock deliverables, refined standard solution requirements, enhanced policy and procedure workflows, and provided time to continue researching the latest solutions and advancements in the emerging Cloud Computing domain. ISS provided invaluable exposure for the business operation side of the house. The position also taught indominable perseverance, courage in the face of adversity, the quirky balance of employee morale, and the creative expression of extreme household budgeting.Without pay, backpay, or material promise of equity, I left for financial reasons.
Consulting Engineer
Intel® Solution Services (ISS) provided IT operational consulting services and trusted partner guidance through consultants backed by Intel® engineering and solutions. Leveraging expert access and next generation ideas from the Intel® research and development thinktank, ISS consultants drove transformation and innovation from the top down. This resulted in better customer solutions, greater virtualization adoption, and improved Intel® processor market penetration. My role was a VMware-focused subject matter expert (SME) supporting Intel®-based solutions from major vendors. The consulting role primarily included conducting engagements furthering Intel®-based system adoption and technological advancements for Fortune 500 customers looking to maximize their IT investment. Most solutions developed were virtual or Private Cloud-based and consisted of applications spanning every type of workload in every type of environment.I was credited with saving a large engagement (in excess of $100K) and earned two (2) Intel® Consulting Awards for my efforts. I was promoted to Project Lead by taking on more responsibilities and proving my ability to lead. I strived for consistent excellence in project deliverables, optimizing technical support processes, and contributing expertise in pre-sales meetings. Collaborating closely with the Intel® Solution Development and Integration (SDI) group, I was able to contribute to improving functional domain solutions, creating current states analyses, gap analyses, and feasibility matrices. I was also fortunate enough to speak at the Intel® Sales and Marketing Conference for Fortune 100 clients.Prior to the Great Recession of 2008, Intel® divested the ISS consulting team and the group of approximately 300 associates worldwide were laid-off. Many of the displaced workers banded together to form Invantia Solution Services (ISS).
Senior Consultant
International Network Services (INS) was acquired by BT Group on February 1, 2007.As an IT consultant for International Network Services (INS), I was responsible for VMware-based solution engagements as a subject matter expert (SME) in the Mid-Atlantic Region. However, VMware technology was on a fast track for corporate adoption, and I was one of three consultants retained as a VMware employee traveling nationally under their brand banner. I was engaged every week educating clients, designing solutions, and pushing the VMware-based solutions to their limits in test environments. INS instilled the core values of a problem-solving consulting mindset, client-focused operations, and continuous improvement for businesses.
Software Engineer
First real position after university, Unisys provided an opportunity to learn both corporate culture and general business operations. As a staff software engineer, I was assigned to multiple projects of varying size and complexity. This was a deep journey into software development lifecycle (SDLC), cyber security, solution requirements, and workload virtualization. After significant on-the-job training, I transferred to a Quality Assurance (QA) test floor supporting next generation hardware solutions. I mastered applying automation, quality, software requirements, bug identification, defect tracking, and issue resolution. I achieved VMware Certified Professional (VCP) certification, with a certificate number just over 1000. I traveled internationally to support clients and troubleshoot issues in the field.Notable projects include:* Maintenance Local Area Network (LAN) Firewall Project, safeguarding out-of-band server management network (XML, Visual C++, ActiveX)* ES7000/5xx Series PCI-X System Debug Project, providing hardware analysis and test regression job automation for server platform Quality Assurance (QA) (Bash, Batch, XHTML, C#, JS, VBS).
