Innovative-Determined-CompassionateI am a student at NC State majoring in Electrical Engineering. I want to work in the electrical engineering industry because I am interested in working in the power sector. I would like to work in this sector as even though there is a great responsibility in providing power to many people, it is one I am willing to take.My interest in the power sector has already brought me to Siemens Energy for a co-op which is allowing me to delve further into this sector. The position allowed me to gain an extensive knowledge of substations, an integral piece of our electrical grid, along with other related topics such as distribution lines, generators, and more. This position has also sharpened my presentation skills as this is heavily practiced at the company, with this leading to presentations to our whole team, which is filled with respective leaders of their field. Constant exposure to technical documents has also grown my technical writing skills. This interest also led me to my internship at Wiley|Wilson. Through this position, I was able to learn and work on the components that make up the power and lighting systems of buildings. This further enhanced my technical writing skills as this process heavily involved technical documents and standards. I was also able to learn in this position the components that make up a feasibility study of EV charging infrastructure. This was done in the Lynchburg office and I was able to learn the steps of the process such as looking at electrical demand of the building, seeing its capacity, and determining the best EV chargers to use. My current work-study at Juntos has also grown my skills that can be applied in any industry. I am constantly communicating there with a large range of people from local parents to leaders in public education, and in my three years there, we have been able to grow the number of students year by year and expand to more states. During my time as a landscaper, I was able to gain a rare characteristic found today: grit. The long hours spent working during the blistering heat of the Southern summers for 6 years has given me the strength and character that is useful in any industry.
