With over 15 years of experience in the field of tissue donation and recovery, I am a passionate and dedicated leader who strives to increase the availability and quality of transplantable tissues for patients in need. As a Certified Tissue Bank Specialist (CTBS) and a Tissue Recovery Supervisor at Donor Network of Arizona, I manage the day-to-day operations of the Tissue Recovery Department, maintain and promote effective relationships with the State of Arizona's Medical Examiners Offices, and develop and implement outreach and referral programs with various stakeholders. I am driven by the mission and vision of Donor Network of Arizona, and I value collaboration, innovation, and excellence in my work. I bring diverse perspectives and experiences to the team, as a former law enforcement officer and a public speaker on eye, tissue, and organ donation.In my current role, I have developed and led several initiatives that have increased donation opportunities and improved tissue recovery processes and outcomes. For example, I created a referral program with county Medical Examiner's Offices that resulted in a significant increase in eye and tissue donation in Arizona. I also managed the inventory of supplies for the ocular and tissue recovery department, ensuring optimal efficiency and quality. Additionally, I have trained and supervised recovery personnel in the surgical removal of various tissues, including bone, skin, veins, nerves, and heart valves, and assisted in the implementation of an electronic documentation system. I have demonstrated my skills in healthcare management, training, communication, and coordination in my role, and I am always eager to learn new skills and techniques to enhance my performance and contribution.
