Ryan serves as U.S. Sugar’s Director of Corporate Communications, helping to manage media relations and public-facing corporate initiatives.Prior to joining U.S. Sugar, Ryan served as Vice President at Hill+Knowlton Strategies in Tallahassee. At H+K, Ryan managed public affairs accounts involved in issues related to agriculture, water, technology, and other issues before the Florida Legislature.He also served as communications director and spokesman under Florida House Speaker Will Weatherford, when the Florida House took on significant legislative challenges including education reform, sweeping ethics changes, enhancements to Florida’s campaign finance laws, pension reform and regulatory changes in Florida’s insurance market. Prior to working for Speaker Weatherford, Ryan served as press secretary for the Florida House Leadership Team under House Speaker Dean Cannon. In 2010, he provided strategic counsel for public affairs clients at another Tallahassee public affairs firm. He previously served as spokesman for the McCollum for Governor campaign in 2010. From 2007 to 2010, Duffy served as speechwriter for U.S. Senators Mel Martinez and George LeMieux. Before working in Washington, Ryan started his career as a speechwriter for former Florida Governor Jeb Bush.Ryan holds a master’s in political management from George Washington University and a bachelor’s in political science from Florida State University. Previously, Ryan was named a “30 Under 30 Rising Star in Florida Politics” by FloridaPolitics.com. He was also recognized as one of “30 Under 30” distinguished alumni by the FSU Alumni Association.Ryan serves as President of the Florida Gulf Coast Agribusiness Advisory Board and is a member of Leadership Florida Connect Class 12. He serves on the board of the Florida Chamber Foundation and Take Stock in Children. Locally, he is a member of Rotary and the Knights of Columbus.
