Sales Representative

Entrepreneur | Business Owner
My wife is a South Korean national. After our marriage, I created Maine Steam LLC. in order to bridge the gap between my hometown in Maine with my wife’s hometown in South Korea. I have always had an interest in steam boilers. In 2008 an eco-cleaning movement was on the rise. Fortunately South Korea was producing a number of commercial steam machines for the service industry. In order to find the right products I contacted manufacturers and visited them in South Korea. After purchasing samples and shipping units back to the United States, I created a website, promotional videos and sought out potential customers. With my knowledge and confidence in global logistics, plus a lack of competitors, I was able to dropship products from South Korea via airfreight to customers throughout the U.S. Despite the cost of airfreight, I still maintained a substantial profit. My favorite memory was the time I drove halfway across the country conducting product demonstrations along the way, stopping in cities throughout New England, including Chicago and Cincinnati. I met a lot of people that I still know today. In 2010 a Korean manufacturer of commercial steam machines invited me to join their team as a salesman. In February of 2010, I moved to Southern California to assist with the opening of their branch office. Maine Steam LLC. was dissolved without remorse and I eagerly awaited my new adventure.
Watercraft Engineer
I spent four years traveling both domestically and internationally as a watercraft engineer onboard U.S. Army vessels. The biggest challenge on any vessel is preventative maintenance. It is problematic to have a mechanical failure in the middle of the ocean.Maintaining the vessel’s engines and power plant made up a small portion of my day to day. A ship is made up of electrical and cooling systems, lubrication fuel systems, refrigeration, steering mechanisms, pneumatic and hydraulic systems. Miles of piping run through a vessel. All of this requires constant monitoring and maintenance. To accomplish the tasks above, engineers utilize log books, documents, manuals, preventive maintenance schedules, records, equipment improvement recommendations and maintain a vast inventory of spare parts.Twice I was called upon to participate in shipyard delivery activities; working with the shipyard to ensure delivery specifications were met. I spent the majority of my time onboard the USAV General Frank S. Besson. It was stationed out of Fort Eustis, Virginia. After four years and three promotions I departed the U.S. Army with an honorable discharge and attended Maine Maritime Academy in Castine, Maine.
