About Ryan Prior

I'm a journalist who's written and produced hundreds of stories under byline across CNN, USA Today, and the Daily Beast, covering both the 2012 and the 2016 elections. In 2019, I wrote the story that received the highest reader engagement of any CNN story published for the entire year.At CNN I've written for Politics, Health, Tech, Money, Style, Travel, Impact Your World, and the Freedom Project. I've served rotations on the Trends, Social Discovery, Special Projects, and Ticker teams. I've produced television stories for CNN and HLN series including Turning Points, Staying Well, and Young People Who Rock. In 2016, I worked in the newsroom covering speeches, rallies, and town halls for all the major candidates from both parties. Some of my favorite stories have included:--Profiling Nobel Laureate Kailash Satayarthi on his work to eradicate child slavery globally--Interviewing NYT bestselling author Stephanie Land on her memoir "Maid," a personal take on poverty in America--Filming candidate Jon Ossoff as he campaigned door-to-door in the most expensive House race in history--Interviewing the top entrepreneurs in the world under age 26 on the floor of the New York Stock ExchangePrior to CNN, I started a company, built a team, raised $150,000 and traveled the US directing, producing, and writing a feature-length documentary film called "Forgotten Plague." We interviewed scientists and doctors from Harvard, Stanford, and Columbia, as well as journalists with the New York Times and Wall Street Journal. The film was hailed a "Must See Documentary" in the Huffington Post, had sold-out theatrical screenings around the country, was translated into 7 languages, and is available on Amazon Prime.I was named to the University of Georgia's 40 Under 40 list for 2018.
