Ethos Veterinary Health, a business unit of National Veterinary Associates (NVA), owns and operates 145 speciality and emergency veterinary hospitals in the US and Canada. NVA formed Ethos in 2023, and announced a plan to eventually split into two separate businesses and pursue IPOs over the next few years. As Controller for Ethos, I lead the 55-person team responsible for Ethos' financial statements and underlying transactional accounting activities.Current projects and priorities include: - transforming and integrating various legacy accounting teams from businesses acquired by NVA into one, central team supporting the full Ethos business - supporting Ethos' corporate maturity initiatives, including uplifting policies, processes, and internal controls to a level required to support public company reporting & compliance - sponsoring transformational technology initiatives supporting Ethos and the broader NVA enterprise, including the implementation of a new ERP (Oracle Fusion Cloud) and HRIS (Ceridian Dayforce) - supporting business initiatives as the key accounting business partner

Amsterdam, North Holland, Netherlands

I led and transformed Meltwater's global accounting and accounts payable teams in support of the company's recent listing on the Oslo Stock Exchange. I centralized various regional accounting teams at a new central hub in Amsterdam and led various corporate maturity initiatives which realized over $1M in annual savings while delivering a faster close process (-2 days monthly) and improved oversight and control. Other key projects included leading the design and architecture phase for the implementation of a new ERP (Workday Financials, replacing Netsuite), implementation of a corporate card program, simplification of the company's legal entity structure, and implementation of internal controls over financial reporting.

Amsterdam Area, Netherlands

I led the teams responsible for end-to-end accounting & control for the inventory & supply chain business processes in Nike's EMEA Operating Segment (approximately $11B annual turnover). This included inventory control activities at Nike distribution nodes in EMEA, as well as traditional accounting and reporting activities relating to inventory & cost of sales.

Portland, Oregon Area

As a member of Nike's global technical accounting & policy group, supported business partners with complex and technical accounting matters. Areas of focus included new consumer-facing business models, M&A activity, asset impairment, and hedging & derivatives. Key accomplishments include:- Led a multi-year effort to update and refresh the company's US GAAP accounting policies.- Established an internal CPE training program, including organizing and facilitating a global technical accounting conference for approximately 200 colleagues, as well as regional events in Europe & China.- Controlling business partner for Corporate Development activities (M&A)

My career with PwC spanned 11.5 years and included roles in the Seattle, Amsterdam, and San Francisco offices. In Seattle, I was a member of the core assurance practice and had the opportunity to work in many industries (including retail, banking, insurance, technology, and life sciences). In Amsterdam and San Francisco I was a member of the Capital Markets & Accounting Advisory Services group and specialized in assisting companies with complex transactions and the resulting accounting implications (for example, GAAP conversions, SEC registration, divestiture support, and complex accounting advisory).

As an intern in the Internal Audit department, I was responsible for supporting the company in their efforts to implement Sarbanes-Oxley requirements for the first time. This included meeting with process owners, assisting in documentation of controls, and working with the company's external auditors.
