I am a research scientist with extensive experience in preclinical drug discovery – PhD + 6 years of postdoc + 5 years industry R&D work. After being trained as Biochemist/biophysicist and learning muscle biology in academia, my current interest focuses on developing small molecules for modulating muscle function to treat heart diseases. My experience includes working with the following clinical candidates – mavacamten, aficamten, CK-586. Please check below for details. • I am a research scientist currently working in the pre-clinical research team to develop medicines for cardiovascular (HFrEF, HFpEF, HCM) and other muscle diseases at Cytokinetics. • I design and perform high throughput biochemical assays for target validation and mechanism of action studies of cardiac muscle inhibitors at Cytokinetics.• Presented posters on the preclinical studies of Aficamten and CK-586 (CK-4021586) in GRC 2022-Cardiac Regulatory Mechanisms and BPS-2023, respectively, during my current role at Cytokinetics. The work on the MOA study of Mavacamten led to co-first author paper (Anderson, Trivedi, Sarkar et. al., PNAS USA 2018). • Research expertise in biochemistry/biophysics led to 8 research articles, 2 review articles, and 1 book chapter. • Attended multiple international conferences for oral and poster presentations during Ph.D. and postdoctoral days. • The goal of my postdoctoral work was to understand the molecular basis of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM).
