The Waterloo Satellite Team (WATSAT) is an engineering team at the University of Waterloo which has entered the inaugural Canadian Satellite Design Challenge. The competition, which ends in October 2012 will have students design and construct a low-cost microsatellite primarily from commercial, off-the-shelf components. As a Co-Director of Operations at WATSAT I:• Monitored the actions of each division of the business team (ex. sponsorship, events, human resources) and provided logistical and informational support to other directors • Led and managed the sponsorship team which developed a sponsorship package to attract potential sponsors by detailing the goals and progress of the team• Outlined goals and general direction for the business team• Ensured that prospective sponsors were contacted in order to generate revenue for the major micro-satellite project• Recruited innovative and talented engineering, business and math students by outlining the goal of the team

• Developed and designed the student council webpage using (X)HTML, CSS, PHP, and JavaScript• Improved the website layout, design and the navigations panel of the student council page• Implemented an events calendar, contact forms and downloadable contents using the Spry framework• Led the web development team consisting of 8 members to create and maintain web pages and organized ideas using web project management tool

• Designed and programmed a ticket selling system with Java for Middlefield’s Student Council using the Agile Software Development process and object–oriented programming skills• Incorporated Unified Modeling Language (UML) in order to visualize and build the artifacts of the system• Presented the product to the client and tested it at every stage of Agile hence resulting in UI and function changes resulting in extremely robust refactoring, debugging and testing skills.• Gained a clear understanding of the Agile Development process and how it differs from the waterfall process
